Service Dispatch

Service dispatch is when a customer calls into a service company and an employees is dispatched to the caller. The word "dispatch" means to send away to a designated place. Dispatching has been around a long time. The most common place for service dispatching is in the utility business. When a customer calls a utility company to have service connected or disconnected, the utility company dispatches an employee to the caller's residence. In this case, the dispatched employee is usually given a time frame during which they arrive at the residence.

Dispatch services keep companies in constant contact with their employees. A dispatch service provides a way for a company to call in individual employees to do individual jobs. Many companies use dispatch service besides the medical and emergency community. Dispatch services are used by utility companies, construction companies, cab companies, and trucking companies, just to name a few.

When a customer calls a dispatch company, they are greeted with a friendly voice inquiring as to the nature of the call. Once the dispatcher has determined the urgency level of the call, the dispatcher sends a service agent to the customer. Service dispatching usually provides a timeframe during which the service agent should arrive.

Dispatch companies now have the added advantage of GPS (Global Positioning Service). This helps the service dispatching company know exactly where each of their dispatched employees are. This is helpful to the dispatch company, because it lets the dispatcher know which employee is closest to a next dispatch service.
